Four Quarters’ renowned rogue-lite Loop Hero is making the jump from PC to Nintendo Switch, according to a recent announcement.
Inspired by classic RPG tropes, Loop Hero is an adventure that essentially writes by itself. Featuring strategic mechanics and endless gameplay, the game caters to retro enthusiasts and role-playing enthusiasts alike. Here’s a short synopsis, courtesy of Steam:

“The Lich has thrown the world into a timeless loop and plunged its inhabitants into never-ending chaos. Wield an expanding deck of mystical cards to place enemies, buildings, and terrain along each unique expedition loop for the brave hero. Recover and equip powerful loot for each class of heroes for their battles and expand the survivors’ camp to reinforce each adventure through the loop. Unlock new classes, new cards, and devious guardians on your quest to shatter the endless cycle of despair.”

Loop Hero does not put you directly in the shoes of the main character. However, it will be your job to ensure their survival. You’ll be responsible for placing down terrain, enemies, and buildings, which in turn will help restore your hero’s memories. Of course, using these mechanics will also grant the player new classes, cards, and guardians that will ultimately contribute towards stopping Lich’s “endless cycle of despair.”
Loop Hero’s Switch release is sure to please Nintendo fans, but Devolver Digital has not confirmed whether the game will also be available on the PlayStation and Xbox. In addition, while the game is coming to Nintendo’s handheld, the Steam version currently lacks controller support. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how Four Quarters implements this in the console version of the game.
