Eurogamer reports that the news of the retro handheld game joining Nintendo Online was first revealed via the Nate the Hate podcast.
As a result of that news, Nintendo Life collaborated with their sources, which are also now backed up by Eurogamer
In its current form, the Nintendo Online subscription service not only offers online play for Nintendo Switch, but also a library of classic NES and SNES titles. Therefore, if these reports are true, Game Boy and Game Boy Color games would be a great addition to the service.
Unconfirmed rumors should be taken with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. Nevertheless, it’s exciting news. The Game Boy and Gameplay Color have some fantastic franchises, including Pokemon, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and Super Mario/Wario. I am quite excited about the prospect of playing Resident Evil: Gaiden on my Nintendo Switch.
The Nintendo Direct will be held at some point this month, according to another report. Could Nintendo Online announce the Game Boy and Game Boy Colour in the upcoming weeks? Time will tell.
If these reports prove to be true, we will be one step closer to seeing N64 and GBA games on Nintendo Online.
